Annual report of the General Prosecutor's Office/Cela in the KLP: Action

Prosecutor General Olsian Çela is reporting to the High Prosecutorial Council this Tuesday. Çela shared some details from the institution's report for 2024.

In his speech, Çela said that the action plan and strategy for several areas related to crime investigations have been periodically followed.

Çela stated that in terms of performance, the largest prosecution office remains the branch in Tirana, followed by Durrës and Fier.

"Cooperation has continued on chapters 22 and 23. The periodic monitoring of the action plan and strategy for crime, money laundering, and other areas also contributed."

Directions were given to prosecutors to meet legal standards. Monitoring of deadlines was requested. Violence in detention was also reported.

Regarding the amnesty law, I would like to highlight the agreement with the Federal Prosecutor's Office of Belgium. This concerns legal practices and the promotion of cooperation on serious crimes.

There are also acts that have resolved issues of various natures and are detailed in the report.

The result is a decrease in the number of cases sent to court. There is an increase in the number of defendants who have been convicted.

"As for the data related to the performance of the prosecution offices, it turns out that Tirana remains the largest prosecution office, followed by Durrës, Fier, Shkodra, Berat, Dibra and Kukës," said Çela ./CNA
