May 11th Elections/ Balla: The Diaspora Vote is Building the Foundations of

From distant Australia, a compatriot has sent the envelope with the ballot to the Central Election Commission, symbolizing the commitment of the Albanian diaspora to be an active part of the country's political future.

The news was shared by the political leader of the Socialist Party for the Diaspora, Taulant Balla, in a post on social networks where he emphasizes the importance of this historical process.

"The diaspora vote is building the foundations of Albania as an EU member," Balla writes.

He described the participation of Albanians abroad as a cornerstone for Albania's integration into the European Union.

"If you have received your ballot, fill it out, notify the postman or go to the post office yourself. There are 40 thousand of you who have not yet withdrawn it (the postman has not brought it to you). You still have time to withdraw it and send it to Albania. It is enough for it to arrive in Albania by May 11, 19:00," said Balla.

He announces that so far over 70 thousand envelopes have arrived in Albania.

"We kept our word about the diaspora vote, now it's up to Albanians to use their vote," Balla said.

"The vote of Albanians in Europe and the world in these elections is historic not only in itself, but also because it weighs as heavily as the historic opportunity to make our Albania a member of the European Union, by closing negotiations with the EU within 2027," Balla continues, calling on voters to support the Socialist Party in the column where its name is on the ballot.

"Vote 5, right in the middle of the ballot where the Socialist Party column is, Edi Rama, and lend your hand to raise the most beautiful flag in the world on the top where the House of the United Europe is located," Balla concludes the message. /CNA
