This Monday, December 18, 2023 is expected to be a day full of political developments.

Two of the most important developments that are expected to happen are the consideration of SPAK's request for the arrest/revocation of the freedom of MP Sali Berisha and the development of a protest by the opposition.

The protest organized by the opposition is expected to start at 11:30. Former deputy Belind Kelliçi has called on citizens to participate in the protest.

"Tomorrow at 11:30 the protest starts. I will be there like many of my fellow citizens. We will protest in front of the Presidency of the Assembly, because the parliament is disconnected from the Albanian reality. The majority that sits there in terms of numbers no longer represents the majority of Albanians, their troubles and problems. They are basically disconnected from the Albanian reality. There is no better opposition than the citizen in the square! Tomorrow the opposition will be you! Be you!", writes Kelliçi on social networks.

Meanwhile, at 12:00, the meeting of the Council for Regulation, Mandates and Immunity will be held in the Presidency of the Assembly to examine the request of SPAK for Sali Berisha.

"Meeting of the Council for Regulations, Mandates and Immunity to consider the request of the Special Prosecutor's Office Against Corruption and Organized Crime for the authorization by the Assembly for the arrest/deprivation of the freedom of MP Sali Berisha, through the replacement of the measure of security, will take place on 18.12.2023, at 12.00, in the Presidency of the Assembly.", the announcement states.

It remains to be seen whether the Assembly will decide on Berisha's arrest or not and how the news will be received by the opposition.

As for the protests, Berisha said that this is the beginning of the protests in the framework of civil disobedience and that in the coming days there are expected to be other protests./ CNA
