Democratic Party MP, Ivi Kaso, simultaneously the Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Civic Initiatives, Ivi Kaso took the floor at the hearing with the Central Election Commission regarding the draft law "On the 2026 Budget".

Kaso stated that the budgetary support for the audits that the CEC conducts on the finances of political parties should be doubled. He added that since we are leaving behind an election year and political parties are obliged to report on their finances twice, the CEC's obligation to audit also doubles. According to the MP, this is also the reason why a higher budgetary support is needed than in a normal year.

"A pilot project for electronic voting for the diaspora and I don't know if this initiative still exists and if it is supported with budgetary funds. The issue of educating voters and the ongoing maintenance of technology systems is an effort that requires support. But among the many problems that the elections had and the criticisms in the ODIHR report, the management process from an institutional point of view on election day received a positive mark. Leaving aside the part of the diaspora vote, the CEC did a good job. A question mark is related to the fund or budgetary support for the CEC's efforts to audit and verify the finances of political parties. Given that we left behind an election year, political parties have the obligation to report twice, the CEC's obligation to audit also doubles. So for this, I would also request higher budgetary support than last year, which was for a normal year", said Kaso. /CNA
