According to reports, a meeting between Prime Minister Edi Rama and his counterpart, Giorgia Meloni, is expected to take place at 11:40. This meeting will be followed by that of the delegations of the two countries, at 12:30. Meanwhile, around 14:00, the signing of several agreements and memorandums between the two countries is expected.

Rama will be accompanied by 10 ministers, who are: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku; Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Elisa Spiropali; Minister of Justice, Besfort Lamallari; Minister of Internal Affairs, Albana Koçiu; Minister of Defense, Pirro Vengu; Minister of Health and Social Protection, Evis Sala; Minister of Economy and Innovation, Delina Ibrahimaj; Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports, Blendi Gonxhja; Minister of Environment, Sofjan Jaupaj and Minister of State for Public Administration and Anti-Corruption, Adea Pirdeni.

The Italian media have also written about the meeting, which has also shared some of the topics that the two governments will discuss. The meeting will discuss several key sectors such as defense and security, energy, migration, civil protection, health, environment, economic and infrastructural development, and focusing on professional training in each of these sectors of cooperation.

In the defense sector, it is said that Italy will provide equipment and technology, while maritime and shipbuilding infrastructure will be built in Albania for the construction and maintenance of naval vessels and the implementation of technical and vocational training initiatives.

In the energy sector, work is underway to expand cooperation based on the trilateral agreement between Italy, the United Arab Emirates and Albania signed in Abu Dhabi on January 15, 2025, which foresees the production of renewable energy in Albania and an underwater link for renewable energy connecting Italy and Albania.

Focusing on immigration, it is reported that a joint working group will be created to deepen cooperation in the fight against irregular immigration and to strengthen Albania's maritime patrol capabilities. Regarding healthcare, the two countries will focus on maternal and newborn health in Albania, with the construction of a neonatology department at the "Koço Gliozheni" Public Hospital in Tirana.

Special importance will also be given to economic and infrastructural development. This will further strengthen bilateral economic and infrastructural cooperation, including Italian technical support for the establishment of the new Albanian Development Bank.

The essential legal framework for the expansion of relations will be established, namely legal and technical instruments aimed at strengthening cooperation in the maritime economy and the development of projects related to the fishing industry in Albania. Further strengthening of cooperation between SIMEST and the Albanian National Economic Council will be provided through training and mentoring initiatives for Italian and Albanian small and medium-sized enterprises on mutual market opportunities, promoting partnerships and investments.

Regarding the EU sector, Italy's commitment to Albania's accession to the European Union is important and this, according to Italian media, is demonstrated by the shared desire to identify specific sectors with high added value to support Albania's integration process into the European Union. Finally, sport is a tool for promoting bilateral relations, which this year saw the development of the 108th edition of the Giro d'Italia from Durrës on May 9. /CNA
