IDU adopts another resolution on Albania/ Këlliçi: Another blow to

The International Democratic Union has adopted another resolution on Albania at the organization's annual forum, which has several underlying issues. The text of the adopted resolution was published through a post on social networks by the DP MP, Belind Këlliçi.

The MP states in his post that this resolution approved by the IDU is another blow to Prime Minister Edi Rama.

Këlliçi further writes that in the discussions on this resolution, concerns were raised about "the state of democracy, the decline of the rule of law, the creation of a narco-economy and the lack of security in Albania."

Full post:

The narco-state led by Edi Rama takes another hit, this time directly from the heart of the Western world, from Washington DC.

At the annual forum of the IDU (International Democracy Union), the Global Alliance of the Center Right, an organization that includes the American Republican Party, the British Conservatives, the German Christian Democrats of the CDU, etc., the Democratic Party of Albania and the Republican Party presented a resolution on Albania which was unanimously approved by all political forces present at the meeting of the Executive Committee of this world organization.

In the discussions on this resolution, serious concerns were raised about the state of democracy, the decline of the rule of law, the creation of a narco-economy, and the lack of security in Albania.

The adopted resolution is based on the following issues:

1. Democratic Slippage: IDU highlights systemic violations during the elections, including vote buying, intimidation, and misuse of state resources. Over 4,500+ state activities were used for campaigning for which no one is held accountable.

2. The Fusion of State, Party, Crime: The resolution warns that criminal networks have influenced candidate lists and political processes in Elbasan, Durrës and Vora, undermining democratic integrity.

3. Political Capture of Justice: IDU expresses deep concern about blocked investigations, ignored decisions by the Constitutional Court, and increasing executive control over the prosecution, judiciary, media, and regulatory institutions.

4. Selective Prosecution of the Opposition: The resolution condemns politically motivated prosecutions of several opposition figures, including DP leader Sali Berisha, PR leader Fatmir Mediu, and PL leader Ilir Meta.

5. Albania as a Narco-Risk State: IDU emphasizes that Albania remains a regional center for drug trafficking and money laundering, a threat to European security and the credibility of the EU enlargement process.

6. Call to the EU, the US and the Council of Europe: The resolution calls for strict meritocracy conditions for Albania's path towards the EU and proposes the creation of an independent international mechanism for monitoring elections, justice and the media.

7. Targeted Sanctions: The IDU calls for targeted sanctions against officials linked to corruption, organized crime, and political persecution in the country.

8. The Risk of an Authoritarian Narco-Regime: The resolution warns that Albania risks sinking into an authoritarian narco-regime if immediate reforms are not undertaken.

9. Support for Albanian Democrats and Oppositionists: IDU calls on its members to remain vigilant and support those fighting for freedom, pluralism and European values ??in Albania.

Together with the team represented at this forum, Albana Vokshi and Nikola Kedhi from the DP as well as colleagues from the PR, Fatmir Mediu, Sention Zotaj and Arben Braçe, we had the opportunity to raise these fundamental issues with all our friends in the US and other officials and representatives from Europe and around the world. /CNA
