The head of PDIU, Shpëtim Idrizi, in these elections without allies for his political force, has started the campaign with criticism of former allies and the behavior of politics in general towards the cause that the party he leads is based on.

Reasoning in his speech why PDIU chose to compete alone in these local elections, he expressed his indignation towards Albanian politics for the disregard that has been done to the Cham community.

He said that the political parties brought the PDIU into the coalition simply as a source of votes during the campaigns, but they are already trying to shrink and reduce it.

"We were once wanted for votes, but when human rights were mentioned and things of this kind, it seems that for some other idealistic reason, we are not interested. They have always tried to shrink us, to reduce us. Those who love us sometimes for alliance and sometimes for numbers, actually crush us and oppress us more and more for their personal interests. In the 14 years that we have been filled with deputies, etc., the Albanian government has never sat down with the Chameria association, for them we do not exist. But what prevents them from sitting with us?", stated Idrizi./ CNA.al
