Murriz Tunnel Opens/ Rama and Balluku Participate in the Inauguration

Prime Minister Edi Rama and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku participated in the opening of the Murriz tunnel, the last work of the "Arbri Road". Also present were the head of the Dibër district, Blendi Klosi, and Minister Ulsi Manja.

The citizens welcomed them with songs, dances, and numerous meetings at the entrance to the tunnel.

The Murriz Tunnel opens after 6 years of work. The tunnel is 2 hours away from Tirana to Dibër.

The tunnel is 3.7 kilometers long and will shorten the distance between Dibra and Tirana in just 2 hours. It has 11 exits and the passage will be free of charge. In total, the Arbri Road has 7 tunnels, with a total length of 8.5 km. This road connects the eastern and northeastern regions of Albania, improving the transport of residents living in the areas where the road passes. In a few weeks, the Maqellarë - Peshkopi segment is also expected to be closed.

The Murriz Tunnel consists of two tubes, one for traffic and one for emergency. It has 11 exits. In total, the Arbri Road has 7 tunnels with a total length of 8.5 km. Construction works for the 69-kilometer Arbri Road, consisting of 6 tunnels and 4 bridges, began in 2019, while the total cost of the 13-year concession is estimated at 40.3 billion lek./CNA
