"Extend your hand to every opposition member"/ Berisha: We must focus

DP leader Sali Berisha, during his visit to Elbasan as part of Summer Day, stopped to talk about the DP's program for the next 4 years.

Berisha asked his party's exponents to extend a hand to every opposition member and to focus on their program, repeating it to the citizens at every moment.

"Overall, the climate is very positive. As you have seen, the lists have been widely welcomed. But one thing is certain, they have no comparison with the lists of the other party. Edi Rama today has dozens of them with serious records of theft, burglary, and property embezzlement. Here we are, oppositionists for 12 years.

They staged political processes and revealed that they are political persecutors. This is a huge advantage for the opposition candidates. We have our flaws, but we do not have their sins. We have been in opposition for 12 years and today we appear before the Albanians sworn to work for them. Sworn to change their lives in the city, the village and everywhere. We have a program that truly transforms Albania.

What would I suggest to you as a second thing? Every sentence, every word, every conversation, you will unfold the DP program. Never get tired of this. You will tell every citizen that we will set the living minimum at 200 euros. With 200 euros, extreme poverty does not exist. And if you take the EU countries, they do not have extreme poverty. Because these provide exactly this.

We were preparing it since 2013, but we lost power. We found 15 thousand families in extreme poverty and we were going to give them the minimum they needed to avoid being in extreme poverty. Now we will set this norm. We will return with the greatest force the first 3 months to people in need.

And the people most in need today are pensioners, they are one third, more than one third of the nation. People who have poured their lives into building this country and now feel ignored. 57 percent of them do not have a full pension, they have partial pensions. Therefore, in these cases, the solution is to break the Rubicon. It is to establish a living wage of 200 euros. This is our firm commitment.

Pensioners, those with low salaries, cannot get basic things at the same price. They will be given a consumer card, for which all VAT on purchases and basic food will be refunded. It is not that little, it is 450 euros, it is more for pensioners, it is three pensions today. It is approximately a minimum wage, so it is not a negligible thing.

We do a very good thing, because at least they don't count the bite. This oil price cannot be accepted and this will be reflected in all citizens. So in oil, because oil is a pyramid in Albania, on April 7, 2013, oil on the stock exchange was 160 dollars per barrel, in the Albanian market 1400 lek. On April 7, 2023, oil on the stock exchange was 80 dollars per barrel, in the Albanian market 1800 lek.

So, here is a terrible pyramid. He has imposed the most absurd tax on oil. If you charge 1.1 euros for every liter of oil, this is a tax that does not exist anywhere in this form. So we will reduce the oil tax and bring oil to the prices that Kosovo sells. Kosovo gets its oil almost entirely from Durrës and sells it there 40 percent cheaper.

There is extraordinary smuggling. Kosovo, with its 400,000 or so vehicles, consumes 630,000 tons of oil, while with its 870,000 vehicles, it consumes 540,000 tons of oil. There is smuggling here that amounts to at least 300,000 tons. All of this will be fought because oil smuggling never happens without the government. So we must focus all our time, with the citizens, on the explanation, on the program we have, a program that takes into account the pain of the citizens," said Berisha./ CNA
