EU Enlargement Commissioner in Elbasan/ "Funding for Albania will

The European Union Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, visited today the city of Elbasan and several centers funded by the EU.

Kos stated that the EU will continue to fund projects in Albania and that the country has made progress, although there is still work to be done and further reforms are needed.

“It is my first time in Elbasan and I did not know this city well, but it is a pleasure to come to Summer Day, on such a blessed day. It was a pleasure not only because it is Summer Day, but also because I saw some of the important projects that are funded by the European Union. First, we visited the workshop where women work who create wonderful carpets and talked to them about their stories. Then, we participated in another project that is funded by our funds and helps abused women. It was difficult, but also encouraging to talk to those women. Of course, the most beautiful thing was that we visited the “Vaskal Todri” school, where we talked to the students of the school, who were wonderful. We will continue to work to ensure that EU funds continue and that the projects progress. Each of these projects is wonderful in its own field, but the ones that are closest to my heart are for the youth and future generations. "Yesterday I had the opportunity to meet with various stakeholders, including government representatives and other societal stakeholders," said Kos.

Among other things, he emphasized that if work continues at a high pace until 2027, Albania will be able to join the EU very quickly.

"I can say that Albania has made extraordinary progress. Of course, there is still a lot of work to do, other reforms are needed, but if it continues at this pace, then it is certain that we will manage to complete everything by 2027 and move forward as quickly as possible. I would like to congratulate all Albanian citizens for everything they have achieved, but by continuing with this pace of work and passion, I hope that the European Union will no longer remain with 27 member states, but will become 28, after Albania joins us", said the commissioner./ CNA
