Draft for the new Criminal Code/ Vokshi: Associations, experts and institutions

Democratic MP Albana Vokshi shared her views regarding the proposed draft for the new Criminal Code in Albania.

In an interview on 'Syri Tv', Vokshi stated that these changes affect every citizen.

Vokshi considered the Code as one of the most important legal acts for the justice system.

Vokshi also expressed criticism that the discussions are taking place during this period of the summer season when citizens' attention is minimal and that associations, experts and institutions should have been part of the process, but were not invited at all.

"The draft has been deliberately put up for discussion during the summer months, when citizens' attention is minimal due to holidays. No one is taking ownership of this document, which directly affects every Albanian citizen and constitutes one of the most important legal acts for the justice system. They dare not take ownership of this code. It is an attempt to test the patience and reaction of citizens. It is a draft oriented against citizens, not against abusers of power. Associations, experts and institutions that should have been part of the process have not been invited at all. The opposition has been completely excluded," said Vokshi. /CNA
