What are Rama's frantic movements in recent weeks?

CNA reported today that Prime Minister Edi Rama is "dismantling" his government after 5 months since its formation on September 11, 2025.

Official sources told CNA that changes are expected in several important ministries.

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, which, according to official sources provided by CNA, is expected to be divided into two institutions, into two different ministries: Infrastructure and Energy.

Movements are also expected in the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Interior and several other ministries, from which the Prime Minister had expectations that have not been met.

Albana Koçiu , the Minister of "Scooters", may leave, while Besfort Lamallari , the Minister of Justice, is expected to take on another assignment.

One of the most talked about names for an important position is Erald Jonuzaj , the legal director of the Prime Minister's Office, who could become part of the new cabinet.

Sources told CNA that the changes are expected to be announced after a meeting of the Socialist Party Assembly, a common practice of Prime Minister Rama during cabinet reshuffles.

This will mark another "shuffle" of the Rama government, which has been in power for 13 years, with frequent moves and strategic changes in its cabinet.

These are the new moves that Rama will make in his government, while these changes are followed by other dismissals and appointments that have been made only in recent weeks.

Every week there are one or two new names in the institutions.

Just a day ago, one of Rama's loyalists, his right-hand man, who has held the position of Secretary General of the Council of Ministers for 13 years, Çngjëll Agaçi, left office , against whom there have been many accusations of affairs.

Agaçi was replaced by another name, Elsonida Rama, who will hold the position of Secretary General of the Council of Ministers.

Another change in the Prime Minister's cabinet was Vali Bizhga , who left her post as chief of staff and was replaced the day before by Vilma Guri.

The next change was the appointment of Erlind Sulo as Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Energy on January 21, 2026.

There were also movements in important institutions such as the National Academy of Sciences and Arts.

A day ago, the director of AKSHI, Mirlinda Karçanaj, was dismissed due to accusations of tender abuse, and based on investigations by SPAK, she is under house arrest.

Karçanaj was replaced by Igli Tafa, who is now the new director of AKSHI.

There were also significant changes in the inspectorate, where Shkëlqim Hajdari was removed from his post as Chief Inspector General , whose position Rama entrusted to the "oppositionist" already in the majority, Dashnor Sula , a move that was announced by CNA on January 15, 2026.

Another move was the removal of Dallëndyshe Bici as chief inspector of IKMT, a post which was finally entrusted to Afrim Qëndro on February 12, 2026.

There were also drastic changes in the Prefecture, which Rama has called for to be reformed.

The sensational moves were the appointment of Shkëlqim Hajdari as prefect of Tirana on February 5, 2026.

There were also changes in the Korça Prefecture, where Nertil Jole left and Florinda Zegullaj was appointed on January 21, 2026.

The Prefect of Durrës, Emiljan Jani , also left office , and in his place the government appointed Adrian Gurra , also in January.

Piro Misha has also been removed from his position as director of the National Library .

The changes announced by CNA in the government come after these moves made en bloc, one after another in recent weeks in several important institutions, which we listed above.

The new moves uncovered by CNA are now expected to be announced at the SP Assembly meeting, which you can read below, a common practice of Prime Minister Rama during cabinet reorganizations./ CNA
