The former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ditmir Bushati, has been strict with Prime Minister Edi Rama for the positions that the latter has held regarding the Kosovo-Serbia tensions.

Bushati said in an interview with Elona Meço that Albania should see Serbia through the eyes of Kosovo.

"Our foreign policy is oriented between Italy and Greece to prove our European and Mediterranean affiliation. We must see Serbia through the eyes of Kosovo. This does not mean that we should not cultivate a normal relationship with Serbia, but maybe even after 50 or 100 years we will not be able to be friends with Serbia. Any kind of road to normality and friendship must pass through Kosovo", he said.

Furthermore, the former minister emphasized that the government should not pamper Serbia as the West has done in the last two years.

"The West has pampered Serbia especially in the last 2 years, after the Russian aggression in Ukraine. He winked at either the autocratic approach or the approach to the neighbors. This position does not belong to Albania, because we, before being Euro-Atlantic, have our national interests as Albanians. See how Croatia reacts to everything Serbia does in Kosovo. Are Croatians more or less Euro-Atlantic than us? No! Do they have a national interest more than us in Kosovo? Never!", stressed Bushati./ CNA
