After the speech delivered today in the Assembly, the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, shared a comment with the media about the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, who in one of his communications announced the beginning of fasting for the month of Ramadan.

Berisha said that regarding this action by Veliaj, it is a personal act, but added that he should also hand over his thefts, give them to those he took from, to cleanse his soul.

Berisha suggested that Veliaj, in addition to fasting, should also atone for his other actions to achieve spiritual purification.

"If it is true that he has returned to fasting, I say to him, may God accept that, but I also tell him that he should return all his thefts to the poor, hand them over, give them to those he has taken from in order to purify his soul and fasting, because even in the doctrine of Islam, if you remember for even a moment and pray to God to accept you, he is merciful and accepts you," Berisha said. /CNA
