Berisha: I will sue the British ambassador

The chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has warned of a lawsuit against the British ambassador in Tirana, Alastair King-Smith.

In a press statement, where he presented the report on his "non-grata" declaration, Berisha said that he will sue the ambassador, alleging that he made false accusations against him.

"I am here today almost a year after the Home Office declared me a non-woman with false accusations of connection to crime and use of power to enrich myself, my family, former councilor Damir Fazlliç and allies.

After this decision that Edi Rama announced in the parliament, I stated that this decision is based on slander and fabrications, based on transnational corruption. As in the case of Secretary Blinken, I decided to sue Ambassador King-Smith and the unnamed holder who had signed the letter.

But under British law, before I could go to court and file my claim for defamation, I had to submit a written application to the administrative commission, which operates on the principles of a court.

This commission has handed over to my lawyers the facts, sources and evidence on which the decision was based," the chief democrat emphasized./ CNA.al
