Lul Basha has once again come to the defense of Erion Veliaj, the head of the Municipality of Tirana and whose directors were caught "with their hands in the money bags".

As the citizens seem tired of thefts and abuses and have expressed their revolt through protests, this seems inappropriate to Basha.

Basha has repeatedly called the protests an inappropriate tool for democracy, going against the opposition policy and his actions.

More than concerned about the country's democracy, Luli seems worried about Veliaj and his dirty deals.

In an interview in Euronews Albania, Basha stated that the protests at the Municipality of Tirana are for personal gain and claimed that they do not bring the country out of the precipice.

"Experience has shown me that the use of radical means in a protest, which is not unique to Albania, alienates exactly those who need it the most: undecided voters, influential people who usually dislike such acts that tend to overshadow the arguments. Perhaps for a short time this energizes the base, but it then exposes the motives of those who take these actions. They don't care about uniting a large part of society under the right vision. They are only interested in showing muscle within the opposition. This is the wrong approach, it is politics for personal gain. It is not the type of politics that can bring Albania out of the precipice where this government has led it."
