Alimehmeti: DP list potentially winning, but could have been done better

The Democratic Party's candidate for deputy, Ilir Alimehmeti, spoke in a television appearance about the May 11 lists. Alimehmeti himself is running as part of the open list in the Tirana district and said that he sees the open list as an expression of democracy.

Alimehmeti said that he has no problem being part of the open list and called the debate about the lists pointless.

Alimehmeti called the DP's candidates for deputies potentially winners, but said it could have been done better.

" I am not afraid of the vote. Open list, closed list, I don't know why there was such a big debate. I see the open list as an expression of democracy. Not only do I have no problem with it, I remain committed to the principle of direct democracy. The time has come for people to choose more about who should represent them. Voting for the alternative is more important. The potentially winning DP list could have been done better," said Alimehmeti./ CNA
