The new decision of the Council of Ministers for police officers, approved today, has defined the procedures and criteria for compensating for distance from residence, related to the cost of public transportation.

Additionally, this DCM also provides definitions for the criteria for benefiting from housing rent payments.

The decision adopted at today's meeting of the Council of Ministers, in implementation of the law "On the State Police", regulates the legal situation for fair and clear compensation for Police employees who are forced to work outside their place of residence, significantly improving the financial stability of their families, as State Police employees often face significant transportation expenses, especially when transferred to remote areas.

According to the Ministry of Interior, the transfer of employees to new areas causes the loss of jobs for their spouses, creating financial and social difficulties for the family, and this decision defines the criteria and procedures related to spouses, especially unemployment compensation and the inclusion of the period without work in the retirement seniority.

This helps to maintain the social and economic stability of the family. It also guarantees better housing conditions for Police employees who are transferred outside their permanent residence, ensuring that they have the opportunity to cover the costs of renting accommodation. This contributes to improving living conditions and alleviating the insecurity that they and their families may experience.

The objectives are:

-to regulate the criteria and procedures for obtaining travel compensation for State Police employees;

-to determine compensation for spouses of State Police employees who lose their jobs due to transfers and residence in remote areas;

-detail the necessary criteria for receiving payments, including the required documentation and application procedures;

-create a cooperation mechanism with regional employment offices to ensure preferential treatment for spouses of employees in cases of job vacancies;

-minimize the financial and social impacts resulting from the transfers of State Police employees, by protecting the economic well-being of their families and guaranteeing stable living and working conditions;

-determine criteria and measures for compensation for apartment rent for police officers who are transferred or appointed outside their permanent residence;

The act will guarantee the improvement of quality and directly impact the increase in the efficiency of public services in the field of security and order, in the fight against organized crime, thus increasing public trust. /CNA
