Veliaj-Rama fight erupts/The mayor appoints his own successor

Mayor Erion Veliaj, from his prison cell in Durrës, signed the order on March 18 for the temporary appointment of Sara Goxhaj to the position of mayor of Tirana.

Thus, Veliaj has revoked the appointment of Anuela Ristani by Prime Minister Edi Rama, writes CNA.

Sources for CNA indicate that, immediately after the announcement, Prime Minister Edi Rama went to the Municipality and in the late hours ordered the Protocol to act and undo Veliaj's decision.

According to the same sources, it is learned that Rama has dismissed not only Sara Goxhaj but also Secretary General Alban Dokushi.

It now appears that the war between Rama and Veliaj has broken out. This action clearly shows the tension between them after Veliaj, from his prison cell in Durres, came out against Rama and appointed his close associate as head of the Municipality./ CNA
