The role of women in politics/ CEC meeting with UN Women Albania

The Central Election Commission, in collaboration with UN Women Albania, held a meeting in Vlora focusing on women's participation in politics.

In the post made by the CEC, it is written that this meeting aimed to empower women in political life, while also highlighting the challenges of this commitment.

 

" Women and Girls in Politics – A Commitment to Equality!

The active participation of women in politics was the focus of a meeting held in Vlora by the Albanian Central Election Commission, in collaboration with UN Women Albania. The meeting aimed to provide support and information necessary to increase the inclusion and empowerment of women in political life, addressing both the opportunities and challenges of this engagement.

During the discussions, key topics were addressed such as:

The importance of women's active participation in politics and their influence on decision-making.

Women's access to political party finances, an essential factor for a level playing field.

Campaign development rules, for a fair and transparent process.

The role of online media and the challenge of misinformation, as an influential factor in the perception of women in politics.

Mechanisms for preventing hate speech, for a fair and inclusive political debate.

"Gender equality in politics is a step towards a more democratic and just society! The CEC will continue its efforts to support the participation of women and girls in elections and politics, guaranteeing a more inclusive and equal electoral environment ," writes the CEC./ CNA
