While in Albania the intellectuals play with matches, shouting about the necessity of renewing the opposition, on the ground the opposite happens, they work systematically for its annihilation. What happened on Wednesday is beyond imagination.

KAS, known as the Commission of Complaints and Sanctions in the CEC, made a decision that Sali Berisha has no right to be the chairman of the coalition he leads, "We win together". Although the members of this coalition also sent their will in writing as to who they had chosen as the leader, the decision was announced that this role belongs to Ilir Meta.

This is similar to those anecdotes from the time of communism, when if someone had fallen in love and wanted to get married, the neighborhood accepted him, but gave him another husband. The confusion is that the party had announced the unfortunate Athersha with a dark biography, while this current one was announced by America.

To be more serious, although in these conditions it is almost impossible, yesterday's decision is easily explained. Edi Rama and the palaces that he has appointed as opposition, have started the campaign under the pretense that Sali Berisha is leading the votes of the Democrats to a man who has betrayed the latter several times. And for this political purpose, KAS invested in having Meta's name written on the ballot, with the hope that on May 14 someone will fall prey to this banal propaganda. So the arbitrators of the elections acted simply as pawns of the petty interests of the prime minister.

And this is not the only case. The whole system is behaving the same. Initially, the Court of Appeal of Tirana, with an unprecedented decision, accepting Alibeaj as a party in the trial, who was not such, decided to take Berisha's seal. Thus it was decided that the DP belonged to Lulzim Basha, since he was still registered in the court as chairman. But Basha had disappeared and the whole world knew that he resigned a year ago. For this, a falsified letter was invented, as if in March 2022, Basha knew that President Begaj (then not yet appointed) would announce local elections this May 14. He mandated Alibeaj. And on the basis of this misfortune, the whole system decided that the PD belonged to Enkelejd, as Luli's heir.

But although it became a party with a stamp, ridiculous to the max, Alibeaj could not play the role of the fake opposition that disrupts work. He failed to field candidates in over ? of the municipalities where he should compete. Therefore, he was assigned an even more humiliating task. To appeal to KAS. So even though they had given him the seal of the party, where it was universally known that Berisha was in the majority, he should not have allowed the latter to be the leader of the new coalition he founded with Meta. Alibeaj obeyed and the "arbiters" of the elections decided.

This short chronology of a systematic manipulation is not intended to argue a truth that everyone knows, that of the death penalty of the opposition, nor to highlight the madness of a race, where Edi Rama campaigns with his mouth and with spots against Saliu and Iliri, while on the cards, with financing, commissioners and television time, he has designated "fake" Enkelejdi as a rival. Nor does it intend to convince anyone that all the intermediate bodies, which should be equally distributed in elections, have been transformed into tools of one man.

There is a bigger problem here, ethical and moral. Because at a time when the system works like Swiss clockwork to annihilate any real opponent of the regime, we have intellectuals who have the luxury of playing with matches, to paraphrase a famous line from Prevert, preaching that the country's biggest problem is renewing the opposition, without worrying that they are thus contributing to setting fire to democracy.

Eyes must be opened, this murderous mechanism that has been consolidated, does not aim to destroy only the "non-women" politician, or the one caught with a block in hand, but also Arlind Qori, Endri Shaban, even Basha or Alibeaj, if they want to decide one day to be real opponents. This gang of KAS-ists, who have taken over every institution, when they do it once, are always able to break the law in any case that Edi Rama asks them to. They are insensitive to the morality, high or low of the victim, they are simply blind to the boss.

Therefore, the main problem in Albania is not the renewal of the opposition, but intellectual denunciation and practical action against this gang. If this tabor were not disturbed by the old, worn out, delegitimized, Berisha and Meta, they would not plunge into crime to prevent them.

The priority job is to stop these state-paid killers. To restore equality before the law for everyone, even for those we suspect as dishonest and guilty. This attitude means being morally clean and intellectually coherent. Meanwhile, looking for a needle in a haystack in the middle of this crap, you do nothing but play with matches, without realizing that you screw up everything.

This role has been taken over by many who wake up and worry about the purity of the opposition. And if their current wins, it will not be a surprise, we will see as normal events that still seem absurd to us today, when you decide to form a party, but the state appoints the president. In fact, there is a risk that we will no longer even laugh at the anecdotes of that time, when the neighborhood decided who you were going to marry.
