The deputy of the Democratic Party, Bujar Leskaj, has commemorated Faik Konica on the 80th anniversary of his death.

Through a status on social networks, Leskaj says that Konica is one of the most prominent Albanian intellectual figures, writer, literary critic, publicist, essayist, translator, one of the most prominent personalities of Albanian culture, literature, political life, an intellectual of world dimensions.

He emphasizes that Konica remains a central figure and a reference point in the progress of our modern culture.

Sot mbushen 80 vite nga vdekja e Faik Konicës, një nga figurat më të shquara intelektuale shqiptare, shkrimtar, kritik letrar, publicist, eseist, përkthyes, një nga personalitet më të shquara të kulturës, letërsisë, e jetës politike shqiptare, një intelektual i dimensioneve botërore.

Faik Konica mbetet një figurë qendrore dhe një pikë referimi në ecurinë e kulturës sonë moderne.

Faik bej Konica lindi më 15 mars 1875 në Konicë.

Ndoqi Kolegjin Jezuit Saverian të Shkodrës e më pas studimet e liceut perandorak francez të Stambollit. Pasi kreu shkollën e mesme në Francë, vazhdoi studimet në Dizhon për filologji romane dhe më pas u diplomua në universitetin e Harvardit të SHBA-së, ku mori gradën “Master of Arts”.

Më 1897, vetëm 23 vjeç, në Bruksel botoi numrin e parë të revistës politike kulturore e letrare “Albania”. Pas vajtjes së tij në Boston, së bashku me Fan Nolin, themelojnë gazetën Dielli, një organ i rëndësishëm i Federatës Panshqiptare “Vatra”.

Në 1912 në emër të Federatës Vatra, shkon në Londër për të mbrojtur interesat kombëtare shqiptare në Konferencën e Ambasadorëve në Londër.

Në 1921, Konica zgjidhet kryetar i Federatës Vatra dhe me rimarrjen e drejtimit të gazetës Dielli, ai shkruante në një rubrikë të tijën “Shtylla e Konitzës”.

Në vitin 1926, Faik Konica emërohet Ministër Fuqiplotë i Shqipërisë në Shtetet e Bashkuara. Vdiq në Uashington më 15 Dhjetor 1942. Në xhep kishte vetëm 15 dollarë e 56 cent.

His life went through many trials. Banned for about 46 years, anathema and despised by the communist dictatorship, Faik Konica resisted to be the cornerstone of Albanian critical thought.

In 1995, after the fall of the communist dictatorship, his remains were brought to Tirana.

With his literary work and critical writings, Konica reflects a deep knowledge of the Albanian mentality, of the Albanian political life.

Throughout the life of his intellectual and patriotic activity, he has tried for a common literary language, helping to enrich the development of the literary and journalistic style of written Albanian.
