He trafficked about a ton of marijuana in Italy/ The most wanted man is arrested

The police have arrested a much-wanted citizen for trafficking about 1 ton of marijuana in Italy.

The 34-year-old with the initials GL, 34 years old. was declared wanted within the framework of the international police mega-operation coded "Eye", developed in July 2022.

He was located and arrested in the "1 Maji" neighborhood of Vlora, where he was hiding from justice. For him, the Court of First Instance of Vlora has assigned the security measure "Arrest in prison", for the criminal offense "Trafficking of narcotics", committed in collaboration. 

The GL citizen, in cooperation with the 5 citizens arrested in July 2022, in Vlora, is suspected of having transported an amount of 992 kg of suspected marijuana narcotics (divided into 153 packages), with 3 speedboats, to another vehicle floating, in the depths of the waters of the Ionian Sea and then they have started it towards Italy.   

The international police operation coded "Eye", which hit this case of narcotics trafficking, was developed by the Vlora Local Police Directorate, in cooperation with the Guardia di Finanza, Delta Force, the Vlora Local Border and Migration Directorate, the Department for Border and Migration and Department for Criminal Police, in the State Police.

During this operation, narcotics, 2 vehicles and 4 vessels used for its transportation were seized.

Meanwhile, the procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Vlora, for further actions./ CNA.al
