The Italian police hit the "Ndrangheta" gang/ 61 arrested

The Italian police has organized an operational action in several regions of Italy, where 61 people suspected of being members of the notorious "Ndrangheta" mafia clan were arrested.

With a police force of 500 officers, the operation took place in the vicinity of Rome and Lazio, Lombardy, Piedmont and Venice.

The 'Ndrangheta mafia organization, a collaboration of around 150 families believed to operate in more than 40 countries around the world, is accused of fraud, drug trafficking, government infiltration and extortion of local farmers.

Italian and Belgian investigators believe that the criminal group smuggled around 25 tons of cocaine between October 2019 and January 2022 and transferred more than 22 million euros from Calabria to Belgium, the Netherlands and South America./ CNA.al
