Maritime safety/ 33 vessels blocked, 9 holidaymakers rescued

As part of the "Maritime Safety" operation, 452 vessels were inspected in one week.

Of these vehicles, 33 have been blocked for violating the security perimeter, lack of documentation or exercising activity outside approved areas.  

The vehicles blocked by the police are 19 jet skis, 8 speedboats, 3 dinghies and 3 metal boats with installed water motors.

Also this week, 9 citizens who were in danger were rescued at sea.

Intensive monitoring continues by the Maritime Police Unit and the Border Police, as part of the "MARINE SECURITY" operation.

In order to increase maritime safety parameters, monitoring and controls have been intensified this week, and as a result, 452 vessels have been checked from Ksamil to Koman, of which 33 have been blocked.

8 of them for violating the security perimeter.

9 citizens (Albanian and foreign) were rescued at sea, through the intervention of the Border Police and the Maritime Police Unit.

The Border Police in cooperation with the Maritime Police Unit, within the framework of the "MARINE SECURITY" operation, is conducting intensive monitoring and controls in the maritime area from Ksamil to Velipojë, as well as in lake and river areas, with the aim of identifying violators of navigation rules, the security perimeter, or the use of vessels without relevant documentation.

During the monitoring, 452 vessels were checked, of which 33 were blocked for violating the maritime security perimeter, carrying out activities outside approved areas and without relevant documentation.

The seized vehicles are 19 jet skis, 8 speedboats, 3 dinghies and 3 metal boats with installed water motors.

8 boats were found sailing within the security perimeter, endangering the lives of vacationers. Their drivers were fined 100,000 lek each.

Meanwhile, from Ksamil to Velipojë, the Border Police has intervened on 4 occasions to come to the aid of 9 citizens, who were in danger due to strong waves or defects in their boats.

The Border Police appeals for strict compliance with the rules for the use of watercraft, to not violate the security perimeter, to sail only in permitted areas and to be equipped with rescue equipment.

The State Police invites citizens and vacationers to report any case of violation of the maritime security perimeter or security measures, on the toll-free number 112, guaranteeing immediate reaction and concrete measures against any violator./ CNA
