Tirana Roads takes stock/ In 1 week, 13,911 fines, 23 driving licenses suspended

Tirana Traffic Police has published statistics from the last week regarding violations of the Highway Code, referring to monitoring carried out with drones, radars and cameras.

As a result of the monitoring carried out, the police report that in one week, 41 people were arrested or prosecuted, one person was declared wanted, and 13,911 fines were imposed.

Intensive checks continue on all interurban routes and in residential centers, to identify and punish violators of the Highway Code.

Monitoring, with drones, radars and cameras, as well as with an increased presence of Traffic Police services.

During the last week, as a result of monitoring:

41 citizens have been arrested/proceeded for violating the rules of the Highway Code. 18 of the arrests were for driving while intoxicated/or without a license;

46 vehicles are blocked;

13,911 administrative measures have been imposed;

23 driving licenses have been suspended;

1 citizen wanted for the criminal offense of "Irregular Driving" has been detained.

From the field, the Commander of one of the road traffic monitoring groups, Deputy Commissioner Gerhard Baka, appealed to road users to respect road traffic rules.

He also appealed to drivers of electric skateboards to circulate in the lanes designated for them, and invited citizens to report any violation of road traffic rules./ CNA
