Assisted in illegal border crossing/ 19-year-old arrested in flagrante delicto

A 19-year-old man who helped third-country migrants cross borders illegally for a fee was arrested at the end of a police operation codenamed "Borders 3".

The 19-year-old was caught red-handed, in the village of Vukpalaj, transporting 4 immigrants by vehicle who were intending to cross the border with Montenegro.

The 19-year-old's vehicle and cell phone were seized.

Police Announcement:

The services of the Bajzë Border Police Station, based on information obtained operationally, regarding a case of providing assistance to foreign citizens, against payment, for illegal border crossing, have organized and finalized the police operation codenamed "Borders 3". As a result of this operation, the citizen was arrested in flagrante delicto:

-VT, 19 years old, resident of Durrës, for the criminal offense of "Aid for illegal border crossing".

Investigations suspect that this citizen was helping immigrants from Third Countries to illegally cross the land border with Greece and then the land border with Montenegro, transporting them by vehicle, in exchange for a payment of 400 euros per person.

Investigations are ongoing to fully document this criminal activity, identify and apprehend other citizens who may have been involved.

The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor 's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Shkodra, for further action./CNA
