Traffic Police Checks in Tirana/ 5300 Drivers Fined in 72 Hours

Tirana's Traffic Police have conducted 72 hours of intensive checks to determine traffic violations that endanger the lives of road users.

After this finding, the following were recorded:

4 citizens arrested for driving while intoxicated;

3 citizens arrested for driving without a license;

2 citizens detained, wanted for traffic violations;

1 citizen arrested for driving under the influence of narcotics;

1 citizen was prosecuted for attempting to bribe police officers, who were caught using a cell phone while driving.

Furthermore, as a result of the use of the fleet with smart devices, 5,300 drivers were administratively punished, mainly for: wrongful overtaking, speeding above the permitted speed limits, using a mobile phone while driving, not wearing a seat belt or not wearing a protective helmet.

Also, 10 vehicles that had illegally occupied public spaces were towed away using a lifting vehicle.

Checks continue 24/7.

The Tirana Traffic Police appeals to road users to strictly enforce traffic rules, and invites citizens to report any violation of them to the toll-free number 112. /CNA
