 They organized illegal border crossings/ 2 Syrian citizens arrested in Kapshtica

The Border Police intensifies controls and investigations, with the aim of preventing, detecting and cracking down on border crimes.  

The police operation codenamed "Lugina 1" is being finalized, to crack down on the criminal activity of providing assistance for illegal border crossing, in return for payment.     

They organized and carried out the activity of providing assistance for illegal border crossing, in exchange for profit, and 2 Syrian citizens were arrested and put in handcuffs.  

These citizens helped immigrants from Third Countries to illegally cross the green border with Greece, with the aim of crossing into Montenegro and then into EU countries.  

The Syrian nationals were caught red-handed during the night, in the village of Kapshtica, accompanying 8 Egyptian and Algerian nationals, 4 of them minors.

From the in-depth investigations conducted for 2 months, it results that these citizens have committed this criminal activity several times before, but the immigrants were caught by the police services, in an attempt to cross towards Montenegro.

Specialists of the Crime Investigation Section of the Korça Local Directorate for Border and Migration, in cooperation with the Kapshtica Border Police Station and the Korça Prosecutor's Office, based on information provided by police intelligence, have organized and finalized the police operation codenamed "Lugina 1". As a result of this operation, the following Syrian citizens were arrested in flagrante delicto:

BA, 25 years old, and TE, 26 years old, for the criminal offense of "Aid for illegal border crossing", committed in collaboration. 

Investigations suspect that these citizens, in collaboration with other Syrian citizens, help immigrants from Third Countries, in return for payment, to cross illegally into Albania, through the land border with Greece.

Investigations are ongoing to fully document this criminal activity, identify and apprehend other citizens involved.   

The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor 's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Korça, for further action./CNA
