An unusual event happened in Greece, where a 60-year-old Albanian man was sentenced to four months and ten days in prison for stealing seven frozen pies from a supermarket.

The incident happened last Friday in a supermarket in Lagadas, Thessaloniki. The value of the product that the Albanian received amounted to a total of 15.26 euros. An employee of the business notified the police, as the 60-year-old refused to be checked.

The 60-year-old's defense argued that the acts were committed with reduced attribution and cited his recent mental health problems, due to which he has impaired perception. This claim was confirmed by his relative and his employer, who were questioned as witnesses. They also reported that the accused has been working in a cheese factory for over 25 years and has never had any problems with the authorities.

He himself, in search of forgiveness, said that he intended to pay, however, he was found guilty with a reduced charge, without recognizing mitigating circumstances, while the defense's request for attempted theft of items of small value was rejected. The 60-year-old appealed and was released. /CNA.al
