Elections in Kosovo/ Vucic: Albin Kurti sees the Serbian List as an essential
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic

Serbian President Aleksandar Vu?i? said on Sunday that for Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, Lista Serbe is the main opponent in the February 9 parliamentary elections, accusing Prime Minister Kurti of trying to prevent its participation in the elections.

He made these comments in an interview with Serbia's state television, during which he said that the international community has so far reacted correctly to this approach.

"(Albin) Kurti has only one essential opponent, that is the Serbian List. And now all the conspiracy theories and those who said that they are doing it by agreement have fallen into the water. Everything Kurti did, he did it to destroy the Serbian List and the Serbian people", said the Serbian president.

"The Serbian people in Kosovo know this and I believe that the Serbian List, participating in the elections in Kosovo, can fight for the nine or ten mandates of the Serbs, which will significantly complicate the position of (Albin) Kurti in the next period and help the Serbian people to survive in their hearths", said Mr. Vucic.

Prime Minister Kurti's Vetëvendosje movement has launched a complaint to the Electoral Panel for Complaints and Submissions, since on the last day of the last year, the Central Election Commission said that the decision of this panel on the certification of the Serbian List for participation in the February 9 elections , is mandatory and must be implemented.

The ruling party states in its complaint that "issuing the decision in the name of the Central Election Commission, but without the approval of this commission, is an attack on the legal order due to the Serbian List. Each decision of the CEC must be subject to voting by its members. This decision does not belong to the CEC, because it was not voted on. It is illegal because it conflicts with the Law on General Elections. While the Serbian List was not certified in accordance with the Law, it was illegally smuggled," the complaint states.

On December 23, two members of the Commission voted for the certification of this list, seven abstained, while the representatives of the Vetëvendosje Movement voted against, emphasizing that this party founded and supported by Belgrade does not recognize the state of Kosovo.

The Serbian List accused the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, of not certifying it and complained to the Electoral Panel. The panel's decision was upheld by the Supreme Court of Kosovo following an appeal by Vetëvendosje.

There was no reaction from the Panel regarding Vetëvendosje's latest complaint, but independent observers point out that it will not change anything in the certification of the Serbian List. According to Western observers and diplomats, the whole story about the certification of the List is politically motivated.

On Saturday, the Central Election Commission certified the list of more than two million voters, while on Monday the lot is drawn for the ranking of the parties on the ballots. /VOA
