Elections in Kosovo/ 38 thousand ballot boxes of voters from abroad are counted

The vote counting process for the February 9 elections in Kosovo continues. The evaluation of ballot boxes from voters from outside Kosovo, namely from voting by mail, is now underway.

The Central Election Commission in Kosovo has announced that since February 9, when the evaluation began, ballot boxes from voting outside Kosovo have been verified, and as of February 18, 38,229 packages have undergone this process, of which 35,832 have been approved, while 2,397 have been rejected.

"According to the procedures, the packages with ballots are subject to the evaluation process, which includes verifying whether they belong to registered voters and whether other prescribed procedures have been followed, while the counting of these ballots will be done at the Counting and Results Center. The reason why these deliveries were rejected is that they were sent by persons who were cancelled during the registration as voters outside Kosovo; they are missing the registration receipt; they were sent more than once, etc.," said CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi.

 Overall, the number of Kosovo citizens registered to vote outside Kosovo was 104,924, of whom 20,324 were registered to vote at diplomatic missions and 15,352 voted, while 84,600 citizens were registered to vote by mail. /CNA
