Zelensky: Preparations for a new meeting with the Russian side in Istanbul

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov discussed preparations for a new meeting with the Russian side in Istanbul.

The head of state announced this in a post on 'Telegram'.

"Together with NSDC Secretary Rustem Umerov and Head of the Presidential Administration Andriy Yermak, we discussed the path of negotiations - specifically, the implementation of agreements reached during meetings with the Russian side in Istanbul, as well as preparations for a new meeting," Zelensky declared.

The President noted that among the main issues is the continuation of prisoner exchanges.

"There is an agreement for the exchange of 1,200 people and work on the lists is ongoing. The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council reported on the communication with the Russian representative. We are also working to unblock the return of our civilians and are verifying the data on each individual," the President added.

On the other hand, Andriy Yermak reported on coordination with key partners supporting Ukraine's diplomatic efforts, in particular, contacts with the American side and on efforts to ensure the return of children who were abducted and taken to Russia.

As previously reported by Ukrainian media, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine is ready for a meeting at the level of heads of state if Russia is truly committed to ending the war with dignity and establishing a lasting peace./CNA
