Zelensky: US-Iran war could divert critical aid from Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that a protracted conflict between the US, Israel and Iran risks diverting Washington's attention from Ukraine, potentially leaving Kiev with a dangerous shortage of essential Patriot air defense systems.

In an interview during his visit to Istanbul, Zelensky said that Ukraine urgently needs more US-made Patriot air defense systems to help it cope with Russia's daily barrage.

"We must admit that we are not a priority for today. That is why I fear that a long war with Iran will give us less support," Zelensky said.

Russia's bombing of urban areas in Ukraine for more than four years has killed thousands of civilians. Most recently, Russia has targeted Ukraine's energy supplies to disrupt the industrial production of newly developed drones and missiles on Ukrainian territory./CNA
