Zelensky demands air defense systems after new Russian attacks

At least three people have been killed and dozens more injured after Russia attacked Ukraine with 36 missiles and almost 600 drones, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on November 29.

The main targets of the overnight attacks were energy infrastructure and civilian objects, the Ukrainian leader said.

Zelensky also spoke of extensive damage and fires in residential buildings in Kiev and its surroundings, and repeated the call for Ukraine's allies to strengthen its air defenses.

"We must work without losing a single day to ensure that there are enough missiles for our air defense systems, and that everything necessary for our defense and for pressure on Russia is in place," Zelensky wrote in "X".

He again called for the European Union to use frozen Russian assets, worth billions, located in Belgium, if Moscow does not stop the attacks.

Zelensky also stressed that talks with all partners are needed to stop the war. Ukraine is currently holding talks with the United States and European countries to reach a peace agreement with Russia.

US representatives are also expected to be in Moscow in the first half of next week for negotiations on a plan proposed by US President Donald Trump.

The document initially contained 28 points. After talks in Geneva, proposals from Ukraine and the EU were included in the document, which, according to the Kremlin, have also been submitted to Russia for consideration.

Meanwhile, at least two people were killed and 29 others were injured in overnight Russian attacks on the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, the Interior Ministry said on Saturday.

Earlier this week, similar overnight attacks left seven people dead, said Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

Ukraine's Energy Ministry described the latest attacks as a "major combined attack" on the country's energy infrastructure. According to official figures, 500,000 people in the Ukrainian capital are currently without electricity.

The Russian Defense Ministry said that, in addition to energy infrastructure, weapons factories were also attacked. These, it said, were in response to Ukrainian attacks on Russian targets.

According to the ministry, Russian air defenses shot down 158 Ukrainian drones in 24 hours. As usual, the Russian ministry did not provide any information on the damage caused./ Rel
