Ukrainian anti-corruption investigators conduct searches at Zelensky's

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) have conducted searches in the office of the Chief of Staff of the Presidency, Andriy Yermak, NABU announced on November 28.

"Investigative actions have been authorized and are being conducted as part of the investigation. Details will be published later," the statement said.

A correspondent for the Ukrainian media outlet Ukrayinska Pravda, reporting from the scene, published photographs of anti-corruption agency workers entering the government district in Kiev, but did not provide further details.

The nature of the checks and the current status of the president's chief of staff, Volodymyr Zelensky, are currently unknown.

Yermak's office has confirmed that they are fully cooperating with investigators.

"Today, NABU and SAPO are conducting procedural actions at my home. The investigators are not facing any difficulties. They have been given full access to my apartment and my lawyers are at the scene interacting with law enforcement officials. As for me, I have provided full cooperation," Yermak wrote on Telegram.

Yermak is considered one of the most powerful officials in Ukraine and he led the Ukrainian delegation during talks with the United States in Geneva last week regarding the possibility of reaching a deal to end the war in Ukraine.

Ukraine has been hit by a corruption scandal in recent weeks, after it was revealed that funds that were supposed to go to protect energy infrastructure were diverted.

Several influential individuals, connected to Zelensky, have been implicated in this scheme./ REL
