Bad weather in Greece/ Storms cause flooding in many areas of Corfu

Severe weather from a storm that has hit Greece has caused flooding, landslides and power outages in many areas.

Greek media reports that the island of Corfu experienced significant flooding, with roads becoming impassable, water problems in homes and many trees downed.

Schools in two of Corfu's municipalities have been closed due to bad weather conditions.

According to local authorities, the most serious problems are found in the following areas: Potamos, in the Aleppo plain and Triklinos, Agioi Dekas, Benitses and Dassia, also increasing the risks of traffic jams for travelers.

The weather situation is expected to escalate, affecting a large part of the country with torrential rains, storms and large hail, classified as a Category 5 extreme weather event./CNA
