Witkoff: US-Iran talks could happen very soon

US special envoy Steve Witkoff said today that direct talks between the US and Iran could take place soon, with the aim of addressing the conflict and diplomatic efforts to resolve tensions.

The meeting could take place soon due to the pressure that the US government and allies are exerting to move the negotiations forward.

Pakistan has emerged as a potential mediator for these talks, as it has relatively good relations with both countries and is playing an active role in relaying messages between Washington and Tehran. 

Iranian authorities have officially denied having held direct talks or acknowledged any planned meeting with the US, saying that contacts are mostly through third parties and that there has been no confirmed personal or physical meeting so far./CNA
