Tense Vance-Netanyahu phone call on Iran issue

This Friday, a phone call took place between US Vice President JD Vance and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, which, as reported by foreign media, was extremely tense.

Vance criticized Netanyahu, saying that the latter had made overly "optimistic" predictions about the possibility of regime change in Iran.

Netanyahu, according to Vance, said he had previously stated that the conditions for regime change would be relatively "easy," something Vance considered unfair or unsustainable.

The conversation highlighted the apparent diplomatic disagreements between Washington and Tel Aviv over the approach to Iran, especially regarding expectations for regime change and an end to the conflict in the Middle East./CNA
