Vjosa Osmani dissolves the Parliament/ Elections are expected to be announced

Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani signed the decision to dissolve the Assembly on Thursday, after no agreement was reached for MPs to try to vote on several agreements of importance to the country today.

These statements were made by Faton Peci from the Guxo party. He said that his party demands that the elections be held on December 28, so that the Central Election Commission (CEC) can get ready for the electoral process.

The leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, has said that he wants the elections to be held on December 21 and that his party will go alone in the new elections.

The meeting was held a day after the deputy leader of the Vetevendosje Movement (LVV), Glauk Konjufca, failed to secure the necessary votes to form the new Government on November 19.

Like Konjufca, the leader of the LVV, Albin Kurti, failed to form a new government on October 26. As a result, Kosovo continues to have an incumbent government since the parliamentary elections of February 9, 2025.

The largest Albanian political parties have not reached consensus on a multitude of issues since the electoral process began, and as a result, the processes have dragged on until now.

The country could now go to new elections by failing to approve international agreements worth around 200 million euros, next year's state budget, the budget for Radio Television of Kosovo (RTK), and the budget for three municipalities - Pristina, Gjilan, and Zubin Potok.

According to the Constitution, if the second mandate holder fails to form a government, President Osmani must announce new elections, which must be held within 40 days from the date of the announcement. The Office of the Presidency has not responded to REL's request for a possible time for announcing the elections. /REL
