In his speech before the members of the Assembly, Glauk Konjufca said that for the first time in its parliamentary life, the Assembly of the Republic failed to legitimize the state government with a vote.

"The October 26 vote was preceded by a 6-month crisis that was the result of the inability to elect the Speaker of the Assembly. The year 2025 will be remembered as a year in which most of the efforts to establish our constitutional institutions, the Assembly and the Government were lost ," he said.

However, he said in his speech that Kosovo's achievements in recent years are great.

"We are entering the fifth year with economic growth above 4 percent and fiscal discipline is being consolidated. External debt is at its historically lowest point, while internal tax collection, together with business turnover, has seen enormous growth," he said.

He spoke about the fight against gangs in the north, saying that Serbian structures linked to organized crime and smuggling have been successfully combated, while the defense budget has quadrupled, he said.

" On the international level, visa-free movement in the Schengen area was enabled, and three very important international recognitions were also achieved in the Republic of Kosovo. These were achieved thanks to the good work of the Kurti government ," he said.

Konjufca said that without a new government, our country is only certain of one thing, the deepening of the current crisis.

" Through the establishment of this government, today we aim for some basic things for our state. First, we aim to spare Kosovo from two possible elections. It would be arrogance to take our country straight to elections. We had elections in February of this year, two rounds of local elections in October and November, now if we go to elections in December, who guarantees us that we will avoid them in March as well. There are no guarantees, and if this happens, institutions must always be prepared, but for our citizens it is exhausting, for the CEC a challenge that they have never experienced, and for the people's taxes another 8 million spent without reason", declared Konjufca in his speech as the second mandate holder.

Konjufca stated that if this attempt also fails, then elections will inevitably be held, but said that everyone should know what they are carrying on their shoulders, and these are different responsibilities.

"Some issues that our government will address urgently are: the state budget for 2026, the approval of the EU Growth Plan, some important international agreements, the execution of RTK employee salaries, and the approval of the budget for the municipalities of Prishtina, Gjilan and Zubin Potok. I also want to remind you that I am asking you to do something that we ourselves did in 2020. We all remember how LVV voted for the Hoti government's budget on December 29, 2020. We did not see that budget as belonging to the person, Avdullah Hoti, but to the state of Kosovo. We could not have voted for that budget, but we would have become responsible for a crisis that directly endangered all public sector salaries. We then made the distinction between what was public interest and a daily political battle," Konjufca declared./ CNA
