25 killed in Russian attacks in Ternopil, Ukraine / Children among the victims

Russian missiles hit two residential buildings in the western Ukrainian city of Ternopil, killing at least 25 people, including three children, as Russia carried out drone and missile strikes overnight that left dozens wounded across Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called the wave of attacks "an attack on everyday life."

Ukrainian media reported that explosions were heard in the early hours of November 19 in the Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, Ivano-Frankivsk, Rivne, Lviv and Dnipropetrovsk regions, as attacks targeted eastern and western Ukraine.

Ukraine's emergency services said two high-rise residential buildings were hit in the city of Ternopil, leaving at least 25 dead, three of them children. More than 92 people were injured in the attack, including 18 children.

A military official said one of the buildings may have been hit by an air-launched cruise missile.

" Every attack on everyday life proves that pressure on Russia is still insufficient , "

"Effective sanctions and aid to Ukraine can change this. The main priority is air defense, missile defense, additional systems, expanded capabilities for our combat aviation and the production of drones to protect lives. Russia must be held accountable for its actions, and we must be focused on everything that strengthens us and allows us to shoot down Russian missiles, neutralize Russian drones and stop the attacks," Zelenskyy declared.

The mayor of the city of Lviv in western Ukraine, Andriy Sadovy, urged residents to take shelter, warning in a post on Telegram that "the enemy is attacking western Ukraine with drones. Do not ignore the attack alerts!"

Ukraine's Energy Ministry said the attacks caused immediate power outages in several regions, adding that maintenance crews were working to restore supply where they could.

Russia has intensified attacks on Ukrainian energy facilities as the winter months approach, raising fears of power shortages as temperatures are expected to drop.

Moscow has regularly struck civilian areas in Ukraine, although it denies targeting such targets./ REL
