Schengen states issue millions of Schengen visas each year, with some countries being more 'generous' than others.
According to statistics published by SchengenVisaInfo, some countries are more likely to approve visas for certain nationalities than others, which may be due to social, cultural or economic ties.
Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic are some of the countries with the highest chances of getting your Schengen visa approved.
In 2023, there was an 82.2 percent chance that Schengen visa applications would be approved.
In line with the 2023 approval rates, Schengen.news.info has compiled a list of Schengen countries that are most likely to grant visas to third-country nationals based on their citizenship.
If you are a Chinese citizen
Germany is the Schengen country most likely to issue visas to Chinese nationals. In 2023, Germany approved 97.05 percent of visas submitted by Chinese nationals, accounting for 155,950 visas issued from 160,479 applications.
The top five countries most likely to issue visas to Chinese nationals include:
- Germany - 97.05 percent
- The Netherlands - 96.31 percent
- Switzerland - 94.78 percent
- Italy - 94.02 percent
- Norway - 93.68 percent
If you are a Turkish citizen
For Turkish passport holders, the countries that issue the most visas are not necessarily the ones that receive the highest number of applications. However, here are the five countries with the highest approval rates for Turkish Schengen visa applicants in 2023:
- Portugal - 93 percent
- Italy - 91.08 percent
- Slovakia - 88.77 percent
- Poland - 86.56 percent
- Spain - 86.50 percent
If you are an Indian citizen
In 2023, most applications from Indian applicants in Iceland were approved, making the country more likely to issue a Schengen visa to Indians. After China and Turkey, India is the third largest source of Schengen visa applicants in 2023, submitting 966,687 visa applications.
The five Schengen countries that had a higher chance of issuing visas to Indian nationals, considering the approval rates, are as follows:
-Iceland – 95.43 percent
-Germany – 89.53 percent
-Switzerland – 88.02 percent
-Belgium – 85.81 percent
-Luxembourg – 85.79 percent
If you are a Moroccan citizen
Moroccan passport holders received 437,029 visas in 2023, out of 591,401 applications. This brings the approval rates for this nationality to 73.90 percent. However, the countries that stood out the most for having the highest approval rates include the following:
- Switzerland - 83.89 percent
- Poland - 83.12 percent
- France - 81.26 percent
- Portugal - 80.05 percent
