The WHO expresses concern about the low rate of vaccinations against the

The World Health Organization (WHO) has increased calls for vaccination of groups at risk from the coronavirus, saying that with the decrease in the vaccination rate, the number of infected has increased.

"We are witnessing an alarming drop in the vaccination rate," said WHO expert Maria Van Kerkhove in Geneva, referring to the figures of the last two years.

According to her, the biggest decline was observed in older people and health care workers.

"This situation must be reversed urgently", she said.

Of all the tests for the coronavirus, the rate of positive results has been increasing for several weeks, reaching more than 10 percent, the WHO reported, based on data from 84 countries.

In Europe, the infection rate is over 20 percent.

The National Institute of Public Health of Kosovo (IKSHPK) has recorded in the last data update - for the period July 10-23 - 19 people with coronavirus, and no victims.

Van Kerkhove has said he believes the virus has spread more than statistics suggest.

She has mentioned that only at the Olympic Games in Paris, 40 athletes have tested positive.

She has acknowledged that the current situation does not even compare to the pandemic phase, as more people are now protected from vaccination rounds, and infections they have had in the past.

However, she said that OBH receives data from very few countries regarding the situation that exists in their hospitals.

According to her, the WHO is "blind" when it comes to creating a clear idea of ??the extent of the spread of the virus.
