A senior figure in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church has been remanded in custody.
The cleric Metropolitan Pavlo is facing charges for expressing opinions considered very pro-Russian.
A court in Kiev ordered Pavlo to be jailed, alleging that he violated a court order by contacting a witness in his trial.
But Pavlo, who is also known as Petro Lebid, claims that he did not know the person who was a witness.
We recall that on April 1, Pavlo was sentenced to "house arrest", as he is accused of inciting hatred and justifying the Russian war in Ukraine. On Saturday, Moscow demanded that Kiev release Pavlo.
"We demand strict compliance by the Kiev regime with its international legal obligations, the immediate release of Metropolitan Pavlo, who is suffering from a serious illness, and the provision of appropriate medical care for him," the spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry said. ./ CNA.al
