US President Donald Trump warned the Venezuelan government on Saturday that it must accept the return of all prisoners he said Venezuela had forced into the US, or the price they will pay will be incalculable.
Trump's warning was made in a post made on social media by the White House.
"We want Venezuela to immediately accept all prisoners and people from mental institutions, which include the worst insane asylums in the world, that the Venezuelan 'Leadership' has forced into the United States. Get them out of our country now," President Trump said.
The Trump administration completed a large-scale prisoner exchange in July with Venezuela on Friday, sending about 250 Venezuelans who had been deported and imprisoned in El Salvador back to their country in exchange for 10 American citizens, officials said.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on social media that the Americans, the last known to have been detained in Venezuela, were now on their way to freedom. /CNA
