Trump is expected to meet with the president of China/ Where the conversation could focus

US President Donald Trump said his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping will visit America in the near future, without giving a timeline for the trip.

The president made the comments while interacting with reporters on Air Force One, claiming that a new trade deal between the US and China "is possible."

"We'll have, ultimately, President Xi, we'll have everybody coming (to the US)," Trump said.

The idea of ??the meeting comes at a time when just a few weeks ago, Trump announced sweeping 10% tariffs on all Chinese imports, prompting Beijing to respond with tariffs and file a dispute at the WTO against Washington.

The last time Xi went to the US was in 2023.

Meanwhile, Trump reportedly spoke with the Chinese president on his inauguration day on January 20, where the two discussed issues including TikTok, trade and Taiwan./CNA
