Trump and Haley face off in New Hampshire

Voters in New Hampshire will vote Tuesday in the first round of the United States election, as former US President Donald Trump faces his Republican opponent Nikki Haley.

Former President Trump is hoping to defeat the former governor of South Carolina, and the former US ambassador to the United Nations.

Haley, on the other hand, is hopeful that independent voters will help her win the race.

This is the second race taking place among Republicans, after Trump's victory in Iowa last week.

Whoever wins the nomination will then face a Democrat — possibly incumbent Joe Biden — in the November general election.

Democrats will also vote in New Hampshire's primary on Tuesday, but because of disagreements between local and national party officials, Biden is the first sitting president not on the ballot. .

The race for the Republican nomination narrowed to two on Sunday, after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis ended his campaign and joined the Trump camp.

He is just one of dozens of Republican contenders who have ended the race for president.

Many supporters of DeSantis believe that Trump is the ideal Republican candidate for president.

Trump, 77, said Monday in New Hampshire that "if you want a losing candidate who puts America at the bottom, vote for Nikki Haley."

Haley, 52, has said Trump is preoccupied with the civil and criminal lawsuits weighing on him.

Trump himself rejects all the accusations, saying they are built on political grounds.

Every resident in New Hampshire can vote and this state is considered more moderate, compared to the very conservative Iowa./ REL
