Train tragedy in Tempi/ Protests erupt in Athens square

Violent incidents erupted on Saturday in central Athens after a rally in Syntagma Square that marked the end of the investigation into the Tempi train disaster.

According to police, a group of individuals threw Molotov cocktails near the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, prompting police to intervene using tear gas and stun grenades.

Two arrests were made: a 20-year-old was found in possession of five incendiary devices, a full face mask and gloves, and a 17-year-old was found carrying an emergency bus hammer.

Previously, before the main protest began, authorities had already made 20 temporary stops as part of ongoing checks.
