The Constitutional Court imposes a temporary measure that prohibits any action

The Constitutional Court of Kosovo has unanimously imposed a temporary measure prohibiting MPs from taking any action and prohibiting the development of any procedure for the formation of the Government of Kosovo.

The measure will be in effect from September 5 to September 30. This measure was imposed by the Court ex officio and based on the request of the deputies of the Serbian List.

The Constitutional Court said that it accepted the request for a temporary measure because it serves "the avoidance of risks or irreparable damage" and is in the "public interest."

Nine deputies from the Serbian List and the Gorani deputy, Adem Hoxha, addressed the Constitutional Court with a request on August 30, regarding the vote for the Serbian deputy speaker in the Kosovo Assembly.

The court emphasized that - without assessing the suspicions raised by the Serbian List of constitutional violations during the session of August 30, when the new Speaker of the Assembly, Dimal Basha, declared the constitution of the Assembly complete without electing the Serbian Deputy Speaker - "it is necessary to stop all further actions towards the election of the Government and the continuation of the work of the Assembly."

She added that she decided to impose the measure "so as not to violate the legal and democratic order in the Republic of Kosovo."

The complaint by the Serbian List - which enjoys the support of official Belgrade - came after Basha put the candidates for deputy presidents of the Assembly from the non-Serb and Serbian communities to the vote separately.

The representative from the non-Serb community, Emilija Rexhepi, was elected deputy speaker of the Assembly. However, the process stalled when it came to electing a deputy speaker from the Serb community.

The Serbian List, which holds 9 out of 10 seats reserved for Serbs in the Assembly, insisted on nominating Slavko Simi?. However, he failed to secure the necessary 61 votes even after three rounds of voting.

After the Serbian List refused to propose someone else for vice president, Basha decided to draw lots, according to the Assembly's Rules of Procedure, to draw another name from the Serbian community.

In addition to all the deputies of the Serbian List, Nenad Raši? from the Serbian party For Freedom, Justice and Survival, currently a minister in office in Albin Kurti's government, was also proposed for this position.

Even Rashic did not receive the necessary votes.

After all Serbian MPs voted three times and failed to be elected to the position of deputy speaker, Basha unilaterally closed the constitutive session and declared that the Assembly had been constituted./ Rel
